Super Mario Galaxy Film Teaser Arrives, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the outer limits of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
An Interstellar Journey Based on Iconic Releases
Much like the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. Throughout his extensive trek, he will meet again some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Worth mentioning, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also features references to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow
The film will feature once again of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut around the time of the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo has a set of three fresh titles officially announced for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
