Unveiling a Unique Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and players have discovered plenty of entertaining indie games. But, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Called Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure includes a character that is actually a piece of poop attempting to make its way to a restroom. As a fun fact, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

The gameplay is straightforward: just use a one button to leap. Across 150 stages, you'll face tough enemies and visit a store to acquire outfits for your poop character.

Time your movements with caution, as a wrong move means starting over. Jump using air pockets to propel yourself higher, navigate fragile surfaces, and touch triggers to open new areas. Collect coins and use them on tougher game content as gameplay intensifies.

Graphically, the demo boasts vibrant environments and an amazing soundtrack. The retro art featuring moving geometric shapes evokes memories of gamers of classic titles like Earthbound.

Even though hard to recall other games where you are a dung character, interactive entertainment often featured toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can craft explosives from protagonist excrement. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize feces as fertilizer. And of course, this theme is present extensively in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its silly premise, Unko Technica has already garnered significant accolades, like winning at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. The demo is available currently on Steam, with the complete version scheduled to arrive on PC in the fall.
